Knights of Peter Claver Present Scholarship
Members of the Knights of Peter Claver Council #272 presented the interim principal of Holy Family Catholic Academy, Phyllis Rowser, with a scholarship to the academy. The Knights of Peter Claver is a Catholic lay organization that was formed in 1909 in Mobile. The organization is named after St. Peter Claver, a Spanish Jesuit priest who dedicated his life to aid enslaved Africans. He provided medicines and food and taught religion. He is credited with baptizing close to 300,000 slaves. To learn more about the order, go to kofpc.org.
