Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary Gulf Coast District Conference
The Archdiocese of Mobile hosted the Knights of Peter Claver and Ladies Auxiliary’s 77th Annual Gulf Coast District Conference at the Mobile Marriott Hotel. The organization, which is the largest black Catholic lay organization in the United States, was founded in Mobile in 1909. Archbishop Thomas Rodi of Mobile celebrated the conference Mass and the District’s chaplain, Father Vernon Huguley of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Hoover, served as homilist. The conference, which began May 3, was attended by Ladies’ Auxiliaries from Courts 140 and 272 of Birmingham.
