John Carroll Student Receives Recognition

The WBRC FOX6 News Rising Star program, sponsored by America’s First Credit Union, highlights star students attending high schools in central Alabama. Students must be nominated by the principal, counselor, or teacher at the school and must meet certain criteria. Nominees must be students who are serving in their community, participating in extracurricular activities, and maintaining a 3.0 GPA or better. There will be 30 weekly winners, who will be highlighted on WBRC FOX6 News. Those 30 students will then compete for one of five $5,000 scholarships to be awarded by America’s First Credit Union. John Carroll Catholic High School senior Sarah Pepe has been selected as one of the 30 weekly winners and will compete for one of the five $5,000 scholarships. Sarah not only has a 4.13 GPA but she is also a member of the National Honor Society and the SportsLeadership Club. She is a campus minister, a catechist for people with special needs, and an active community volunteer. Sarah is the daughter of Lynn and John Pepe and lives in Helena.
