Eighth-Grade Class Officers

Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School Students Elect Leaders

The eighth-grade 2021-2022 class officers have been elected at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School (OLS). The officers were chosen after a week-long campaign sporting colorful and clever posters throughout the junior high hallways. Those students running for office gave speeches, and the eighth graders cast their votes for the candidates of their choice.

“What a great lesson for all of these students in how government works, critical self-reflection, public speaking, empathy, and graciousness,” said OLS Principal Mary Jane Dorn. “While only one student won for each office, I expect to see many of them holding positions of leadership in the years to come in high school,” she said.

The elected students have various school-wide responsibilities and activities including bringing new and creative ideas to school leaders, helping with Catholic Schools Week, leading school prayer at special events, and other class leadership opportunities throughout the year.  Of the new officers, Dorn said: “I look forward to working with the officers and the eighth-grade class in implementing some fresh ideas for this school year. I am confident these students will continue to set a good example for all of our younger students.”
