Diocese Announces Sign-up Option for Upcoming 40 Hours Devotion Adoration

As the Diocese of Birmingham prepares for the diocesan phase of the national Eucharistic Revival, the diocese is joyfully anticipating the gathering of diocesan faithful for 40 continuous hours of eucharistic adoration and prayer, which will begin June 17 at the Cathedral of St. Paul in Birmingham. The mission of the revival is to renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

“As we begin our three-year Eucharistic Revival, in a particular we gather to pray for an increase in priestly vocations in the Diocese of Birmingham,” said Father Justin Ward, chair of the diocesan Eucharistic Revival Planning Committee. Father Ward added that Bishop Raica invites all the faithful to spend time with Jesus for as long and as often as possible throughout the 40 hours.

To ensure at least three adorers are present at all times throughout the devotion, the diocese is asking adorers to sign up for specifics timeslots. Security will be provided by the Birmingham Police Department at all times during the devotion. Both individuals as well as apostolate and movement groups are also invited to sign up for a particular hour. The hour may be spent in silent prayer, the leading of suitable devotions, or the singing of appropriate songs.
