Shirley and Bill Carney celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with their family at Mass and dinner. They were married at Little Flower Catholic Church in Mobile on Aug. 11, 1956. The couple are both retired from the Department of Defense Space and Missile Defense Command in Huntsville. They have been parishioners of Prince of Peace Catholic Parish since moving to Birmingham 25 years ago. They enjoy spending time with their children Melanie (Vic) DeJohn and Mark (Shannon) Carney and their grandchildren Ryan (Catherine) Carney, Sydney DeJohn and William Nick Carney.
