Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church’s parishioners gathered between Masses on the Fourth Sunday of Advent at their annual Birthday Party for Jesus which featured children reenacting the Nativity based on St. Luke’s Gospel. Parishioners brought new baby items to the annual event on Dec. 21 to donate to Her Choice Birmingham Women’s Center. Her Choice director, Joy Pinto, was on hand to give thanks. “All of you precious children have brought presents for Baby Jesus, and you have given it to Her Choice. At Her Choice we work with moms who are in unplanned pregnancies who, maybe, might not have everything they need for their babies,” Pinto said. “Thank you. We get to defend life. We get to defend love. We get to defend marriage.” The event, organized by the Madonna and Child Guild and Children's Liturgy Ministry, also included singing, light refreshments, and fellowship.
