St. Bernard Abbey will host its 8th annual Bernard Blues & BBQ. The event features some of the best artisans in the Southeast. While shopping, enjoy live music and the best pulled pork in the Southeast, plus ribs, hamburgers, brats, and chicken. Bring the entire family for a weekend of fun. Hours for the event are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Admission is a $10 requested donation. Children under age 12 get in free. No pets, please. Festival guests can also tour the world-famous Ave Maria Grotto at a reduced admission of $5 all weekend.

The Raising Hope Silent Auction 2024, benefitting Catholic Social Services of West Alabama, will take place from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at The River Market in Tuscaloosa. All funds raised will benefit those living in poverty in the seven counties that Catholic Social Services of West Alabama serves. Tickets will be limited, but the bidding on items/baskets can be done virtually. The River Market is located at 1900 Jack Warmer Parkway.

From 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament will host an Adoration Sodality Day of Recollection. The day will consist of Mass, confessions, a spiritual talk, tours of the shrine and Pope St. John Paul II Eucharistic Center, with free breakfast and lunch. This monthly event is free to attend and open to all. You do not have to be a member of the Adoration Sodality to attend. The shrine is located at 3224 County Road 548 in Hanceville.

This year’s Oktoberfest Dinner will be held in the church’s Family Life Center on Wednesday, October 2 beginning at 4 p.m. The dinners are available for dining in or drive through/take out and the cost of the dinner is $15.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cullman will hold its annual Oktoberfest Dinner in the church’s Family LIfe Center, beginning at 4 p.m. The $15 dinners will be available for dine-in or drive-through/take-out. The church is located at 205 3rd Avenue, Southeast.

The diocese will hold a second collection at all parishes to support World Mission Sunday, which is sponsored by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, one of the Pontifical Mission Societies. All monies go directly to the mission dioceses throughout the world.

The diocese will hold the annual Red Mass at the Cathedral of St. Paul, beginning at 6 p.m. The Red Mass is an historical tradition within the Catholic Church dating back to the 13th century when it officially opened the term of the court.
