Afternoon social gathering

The women of the Central Alabama Ladies of Charity invite the women of Central Alabama to an afternoon social to be held at 2 p.m. at Birmingham’s St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in the Mary Room. The church is located at 2 Xavier Circle, and the Mary Room is located below and behind the main church.

Growing Future Saints Fundraiser 

St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in Birmingham will hold its largest fundraiser of the year, Growing Future Saints, from 5:30-9 p.m., featuring a catered dinner by Full Moon Bar-B-Que and a silent auction in the church’s Parish Hall. The fundraiser’s goal is $50,000, with all proceeds directly benefitting the school and students' learning environment. The is an adult-only event. Tickets must be purchased in advance, as seating is limited and tickets will not be sold at the door. To purchase tickets, please visit sfxcatholic.com/give by March 1. Cursillo School of Leaders

The Cursillo School of Leaders will hold a gathering at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Tuscaloosa from 9:30 a.m. until noon. The School of Leaders is for Cursillistas who wish to serve and strengthen the movement. This year the group will be discussing the book Whom Shall I Send? by Father Frank Salmani. Attendees are also encouraged to share their thoughts on improving the movement during the Work of the Sections. Registration is not required, but please e-mail rskutsor@yahoo.com for questions. Day of Reflection 

St. Paul Altar Sodality will hold its fourth annual Day of Reflection at Casa Maria Convent and Retreat House in Irondale led by Father Cecil Spotswood. Adoration Sodality Day of Recollection

The Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration at Our Lady of the Angels Monastery invite the faithful to an Adoration Sodality Day of Recollection at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Hanceville. The speaker will be Father Mitch Pacwa, host of the EWTN programs Scripture and Tradition and EWTN Live. The Day of Recollection includes breakfast and lunch, a Mass offered for Adoration Sodality members, the sacrament of Reconciliation, mid-day prayer and Rosary with the P.C.P.A. nuns, and tours of the shrine and John Paul II Eucharistic Center. Pilgrims may also explore the Saint Carlo Acutis International Eucharistic Miracles Exhibit and visit the El Nino Gift Shop. Non-members are welcome. The shrine is located at 3224 County Road 548. St. Marks Knights of Columbus Flea Market

St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Birmingham will host a flea market, sponsored by the parish’s Knights of Columbus, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 7 a.m.-noon on Saturday in the Holy Family Center. The flea market is a charitable event which raises funds for numerous causes including intellectual disabilities, Catholic education, support of the pre-born, and much more. The market will feature many thousands of donated items for sale at very low prices. Those items include furniture, clothing, household items, electronics, toys, sporting goods, framed art, books, games, and more. The church is located at 7340 Cahaba Valley Road. Local parish to hold Lenten men’s retreat

St. Mark the Evangelist’s Knights of Columbus Council #13346 will hold its annual Lenten men’s retreat, beginning with breakfast at 8:30 a.m. and concluding at 3:30 p.m. to enable participants to attend the parish’s 4 p.m. vigil Mass. The retreat director will be Archbishop Joseph Marino. During the retreat, men will have the opportunity for quiet reflection, adoration, and Reconciliation. Lunch will also be provided. Cost for the retreat is $15. Registration is available at st-marks-kofc.square.site.
