Fourth of July Festival

Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church will host its 77th annual Fourth of July Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the church’s campus in Homewood. The festival will host the Trash ‘n’ Treasure rummage sale in the school gymnasium and parking deck from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Plate lunches will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and bulk BBQ takeaway sales will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The festival also includes a raffle, bingo, and children’s games. Raffle tickets for five total prizes, including the $10,000 grand prize, are available for purchase in the parish office or in the vestibule during weekend Masses. The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. the day of the festival in the parish hall. For more information, please contact the church office at 205.871.8121. The church is located at 1728 Oxmoor Road.

Catholic Charismatic Renewal Conference

The 26th annual Conference of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of Birmingham will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1728 Oxmoor Road in Homewood. The conference theme is “Psalm 111: A Personal Walk with Jesus, Daily Union with God in Difficult Times” and will feature Fathers Frankline Fomukong, James Hedderman, Jacob R. Ebong, and Paul Asih. The registration fee for the conference is $30 for individuals and $85 for a family of three or more. Knights of Columbus Council 635 Meet and Greet
The Knights of Columbus Council 635 will hold a “Meet and Greet” Membership Drive for Catholic men of the diocese at St. Stephen the Martyr Chapel in Birmingham, beginning at 6 p.m. and ending at 8 p.m. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to men 18 years or older who are practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church. All men and their families are invited to enjoy a barbecue dinner of pulled pork, brisket, chicken, side dishes, tea, soft drinks, and dessert. The chapel is located at 1515 12th Avenue, South.
