St. Mark the Evangelist Knights of Columbus to hold Fall Flea Market

The St. Mark Knights of Columbus Fall Market will be held Oct. 10-12 inside the church’s Youth Center. On Thursday and Friday, the market will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on Saturday, the hours will be from 7 a.m. until noon. Early birds on Thursday and Friday may donate $2 to the parish’s intellectual disabilities campaign and enter at 7 am. Most forms of payment will be accepted.

At 11 a.m. on Saturday, shoppers may fill a provided bag for $10, a box for $15, or truck or car for $75.

This year, the parish has been blessed with more donations than ever before, filling up four large storage sheds of merchandise, with more being brought in the week of the sale.

To date, items include a 1993 Mercedes 500 SEL in great shape with new tires and 150,000 miles, thousands of pieces of adult and children’s clothing, lots of purses and shoes, jewelry, couches, desks, beds, chairs, pieces of artwork, including signed originals, mirrors, armoires, and household items. There are also lots of children’s toys, games, bicycles, and sporting goods.

There are hundreds of books for avid readers, as well as music CDs, videos, puzzles, and electronics. Other items of note include electric guitars, golf clubs, diving gear, a washer and dryer, refrigerator, lawn mowers, skill saws, drills and piles of hand tools.

For those with a building project such as a fire pit, patio, or sidewalk, the sale will feature 15,000 oversized bricks with a pricing scale based on quantity. Also featured will be packs of baseball cards from the 80’s and 90’s with about 25,000 in the collection.

At sales end, the parish will donate the unsold items to the Salvation Army for their charitable mission.

Proceeds from the sale, which repeats in March, benefit Catholic education, the Catholic Center for Concern, Nazareth House and other intellectual disability campaigns, pregnancy support centers, and homeless missions.

The church is located at 7340 Cahaba Valley Road in North Shelby County. For more information, please contact Fred Kapp at fkapp@bellsouth.net.
