St. John Paul II Catholic High School launches bold capital campaign

On April 9, St. John Paul II Catholic High School in Huntsville held a press conference, formally launching its “Together We Soar Capital Campaign” with the goal of elevating the school’s mission “to new heights.” To date, the $12.2 million campaign has already raised $7.4 million, which Michael Burke, the school’s president, pointed to as a testament to the community’s support not only of the school but also of its mission and planned expansion efforts.

This campaign focuses on four key priorities: academic innovation, enhancing student life, transforming the campus, and ensuring long-term sustainability. The priorities translate into transforming the school’s current library into a modern digital learning environment, constructing a new concession stand and restroom facility at the school’s athletic field complex along with upgrades to the fields, building a new gymnasium, converting the existing gym into a dedicated performing arts and worship space, and establishing the JPII Foundation.

“When we reflect on the story of this school,” remarked Catholic Schools Superintendent Margaret Dubose at the press conference, “we see something remarkable. What began as a vision has become a reality - a vibrant reality - and one that continues to transform lives.”

And lives are transformed by the school’s dedication to its mission: to form young men and women of faith, intellect, and character. “At its core, this campaign is about our students,” noted Burke. “It’s about providing the spaces, the opportunities, and the experiences they need to grow, to lead, and to thrive. … Each day, they are challenged academically, formed spiritually, and guided as they grow into who God is calling them to be. … The future of St. John Paul II will not be built alone, it will be built together. That is why we say: Together We Soar.”
