St. John Paul II Catholic High School - Class of 2026
The Class of 2026 at St. John Paul II High School in Huntsville has left an extraordinary legacy marked by academic excellence, leadership, service, and commitment to future success. With 89 graduates this year, the class has distinguished itself through impressive achievements both inside and outside the classroom. Collectively, the Class of 2026 was offered an incredible $14.5 million in scholarships, with students accepting $3,231,780 in scholarship awards. Excluding foreign exchange students returning to their home countries, the average scholarship amount offered per student reached an outstanding $167,000. These remarkable totals reflect the dedication, talent, and perseverance demonstrated by this graduating class throughout their high school careers.
Academically, the Class of 2026 continued a strong tradition of excellence. Nearly 19% of graduates achieved a score of 30 or higher on the ACT, indicating the high academic rigor these students demonstrated. In addition, 20 students earned AP Scholar recognition, while 9 students achieved the distinction of AP Scholar with Honors. Ten graduates also received recognition through the College Board National Recognition Program, further showcasing the diverse talents and accomplishments represented within this class. Beyond academics, the graduates devoted themselves to serving others, contributing an impressive 10,736 service hours to their communities through volunteerism, outreach, and leadership initiatives.
Three graduates will continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level, running track, playing volleyball, and playing football. Three students earned prestigious military appointments - one to the United States Military Academy at West Point, another to the United States Naval Academy, and another to the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Additionally, one student will attend the University of North Georgia as a cadet, one of only six Senior Military Colleges in the nation. At the same time, another graduate will continue at Marion Military Institute. One student also earned a four-year ROTC scholarship, and another student is participating in the National Guard program. Looking ahead, 95% of graduates plan to attend four-year colleges or universities, 4% plan to attend two-year institutions with intentions to continue to four-year programs, and 1% will enter the workforce directly.
The top ten students for the Class of 2026, listed alphabetically, are Caleb Albers, Christian Dobbins, Abigail Donatelli, Sophia Evans, Elena Harris, Jay Korsak, Abril Mourino-Villa, Audrey Rush, Sophia Smotrys, and Madeleine Somers. Special recognition was also awarded to several outstanding graduates. Caleb Albers received the Alice I. Hession Academic Award, while Sophia Evans earned the Brother Benedict Stoegbauer, S.D.S., Community Service Award. Jesse Mejia-Garcia received the Reverend Louis Giardino Religion Award, and Donald Ross III and Ava Lowe were honored with the Linda Bifulco Athletic Award. Isaac Lee and Sylvia Moreno Aguilar received the Edward Manlove Falcon Flight Award, Janvier Norville earned the Dana Bathurst Fine Arts Award, and Audrey Rush was presented with the prestigious Bishop Trophy at graduation. The Class of 2026 will be remembered for its excellence, compassion, leadership, and lasting impact on the school community.
