St. Bernard Prep hosts Academic Honors Banquet
St. Bernard Preparatory School proudly hosted its annual Academic Honors Banquet on Thursday, April 30, bringing together students, families, faculty, and distinguished guests in the Fazi-Richard Athletic Center to celebrate a year of exceptional academic accomplishment.
The evening began with a warm welcome and opening prayer from Father Joel Martin, president of St. Bernard Preparatory School, who commended students for their dedication to scholarship and the Benedictine values that guide their education.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of scholarships to members of the Class of 2026. Robert Tidwell of Cullman Electric Cooperative presented the Cullman Electric $1,000 Scholarship to Josh Marks. Trace Beasley of the University of Alabama awarded scholarships to Sarah Woods, Charlie Roberson, and Josh Marks.
Additional scholarship recipients included Kaitlyn Chamblee and Angel Daniel Pichardo Luna for the University of South Alabama, Anna Agnello for the University of Montevallo, and Kimberly McCormick for the University of Alabama at Birmingham. To date, the Senior Class of 2026 has been offered an impressive total of $5,870,000 in scholarships.
Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner of chicken piccata, green beans, and Alfredo pasta, which was generously sponsored by Kassouf of Birmingham and prepared by Chef Thomas Maddux and the St. Bernard Dining Hall staff.
Following the scholarship presentations, students were recognized for outstanding academic achievement across all disciplines. The evening concluded with the presentation of two of the school’s highest honors: the Benedictine Medal of Merit, awarded to Luke Daly, and the Christian Service Award, presented to Sarah Woods.
