School inducts new members into the National Junior Honor Society
Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School proudly inducted 17 seventh- and eighth-grade students into the 2026 National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) during a special ceremony celebrating their achievements. Family members and friends gathered to honor these students and recognize their commitment to excellence.
The newly inducted members join current NJHS students in continuing a strong tradition of leadership and service within the school. Selection into NJHS is based on five core pillars: scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Each student demonstrated these qualities through academic achievement, teacher recommendations, and active involvement both in and beyond the classroom.
Throughout the year, NJHS members have shared their time and talents in meaningful ways, supporting school initiatives and completing numerous service hours that made a positive impact. In 2025, students also began developing leadership skills through Franklin Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, setting intentional goals for their futures.
As a chapter, members contributed more than 150 service hours and actively supported school events and outreach efforts.
Membership in NJHS is one of the highest honors a middle school student can receive. The organization recognizes well-rounded students who exemplify excellence and encourages them to grow as leaders in both their school and their community. With chapters across the country and around the world, NJHS empowers more than one million students to serve others and lead with purpose.
This year’s inductees include from the seventh grade Elias Bou Aker, Cian Daugherty, John David Gagliano, Henry Houser, Max MacCann, Evan Magruder, James McGuire, Martin Nguyen, Thomas Sapp, Eva Snyder, Ford Tapley, Charlotte Wesley, Jacob Young, and Anabelle Zamora. Eighth-grade inductee were Price Currie, Lucy Kononchek, and Ella McMillan.
