OLS Ladies Altar Sodality launches a new year of service

The end of summer and the start of a new year of service were celebrated as members of the Our Lady of Sorrows Altar Sodality hosted “Petals and Prosecco” on Aug. 18. The group welcomed new members as well as current ones. Following a prayer by pastoral associate Sister Madeline Contorno, O.S.B., the ladies enjoyed chatting and light refreshments, drinks, and door prizes. Socializing during the gathering did not minimize its purpose: encouraging faith and service. The event showcased the Altar Sodality’s six guilds: Madonna and Child, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Peace, Our Lady of Grace, and St. Ann’s Guild. Corporal works of mercy are the sodality’s foundation. Guild members perform numerous services including volunteering at the parish’s Independence Day Festival, cooking meals, collecting food and items for the needy in the community, making rosaries and baptismal stoles, preparing hospitality baskets, and praying.
