OLS celebrates 33 years of perpetual adoration

Committed adorers and substitutes honored

The 33rd anniversary of Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration was celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Church (OLS) on Aug. 16. The occasion began at the Chapel of Our Savior with a procession as parish administrator, Father Kevin Bazzel, carried the monstrance containing the Blessed Sacrament to the church. Members of the Knights of Columbus Council 4304 were honor guards. In the church, benediction was followed by the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass celebrated by Father Bazzel.

After Mass, committed adorers, substitutes, and their families dined on a catered appreciation dinner and dessert. They were joined by Father Bazzel and adoration coordinator Bo Lovell who thanked them for their dedication.

In 1981 Pope John Paul II established Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration at St. Peter’s Basilica and counseled parishes to do the same.

Perpetual adoration at OLS was founded on the Feast of the Assumption, Aug. 15, 1992, under the guidance of Msgr. Martin M. Muller, who is now pastor emeritus, and by two parishioners, the late Mary Claire Brouillette and the late Ida Wilker.
