A festive and faith-focused “Summer Soiree” at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, organized by the Ladies Altar Sodality, welcomed potential and current members on Aug. 24. Father Kevin Bazzel, pastor, and Parochial Vicars Father Joby Thomas and Father Andrew Vickery attended. During his welcome, Father Bazzel said he is impressed by the personal investment of parishioners to live out their faith, and the sodality members are a case in point. He said that working for the parish and for the community is a great example of evangelization. He thanked them for their caring and faithful work. After he offered a blessing, the ladies enjoyed food, drinks, desserts, and more. The occasion showcased six guilds: Madonna and Child, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of Peace, Our Lady of Grace, and St. Ann’s Guild. The Corporal Works of Mercy are the basis of the sodality. Members perform numerous services including praying, making rosaries and baptismal stoles, collecting provisions for the disadvantaged, cooking meals, and preparing hospitality baskets.
