The Service Team of Mary, Woman of Faith Chapter of Magnificat will hold its next Magnificat Breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church Parish Hall. 

The speaker, Lynn Pepe, is originally from San Lorenzo, California where she was raised in the Catholic faith and attended public school and CCD. At age 23, during a time when her walk with God was lukewarm at best, she responded to the encouragement of the Holy Spirit and attended a Cursillo weekend that profoundly moved her heart. Going forward, Pepe went on to lead a Confirmation group at her parish.  Each faith-filled step strengthened her relationship with the Lord.

In 2002, Pepe married her husband, John, and moved to Alabama where he accepted a position with EWTN Radio. The couple now has four daughters and are members of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Parish. She currently works as an administrative assistant for Father Bryan Jerabek at the Diocese of Birmingham.  

When her second daughter, Gianna Rose, was born with special needs, Pepe wondered why God picked John and her to raise His baby with these challenges; however, she says God always knew they would love her beyond measure. She also faced a life-threatening medical emergency with incredible inner strength and grace while pondering how her husband would raise four girls alone. Pepe truly lives the scripture verse from Proverbs 3:5 with unwavering reliance on God and says, “Pray, trust, and hold on!”

Pepe is forever the optimist who believes God is always there even when we do not feel Him or when we think He is not listening. Come hear Pepe share events throughout her journey when she felt God was saying, “Be patient, I’ve got you.” 

Tickets for the Oct. 24 Magnificat Breakfast are on sale through Oct. 18. A meal ticket is $20 and includes a catered breakfast. Student tickets cost $15 for ages 13 to 22 and are available online at BirminghamMagnificat.org or by e-mail at magnificat0296@gmail.com. If purchasing a ticket by regular mail, please send a check payable to Magnificat by Oct. 14 to: Magnificat Tickets, C/O Jan Smith 1367 Winola Lane, Birmingham, AL 35235. Tickets for priests, deacons, and religious brothers and sisters are complimentary, but reservations are still required. No tickets will be sold after Oct. 18 or at the door.
