On Oct. 19, Bishop Steven Raica celebrated Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Parish. During the Mass, the bishop installed Father Rick Chenault as pastor. Concelebrating the Mass was Father Antu Lonappan, parochial vicar of the parish. Father Chenault’s father, Deacon Chenault, assisted at the Mass alongside Deacon Bob Becher. The parish’s Knights of Columbus provided an Honor Guard, and music was provided by organist Marjorie Arnston and the Holy Spirit Chancel Choir under the direction of Anne Vasile. Father Michael Mac Mahon, pastor emeritus, attended the Mass as well as Deacons Lee Heckman, Mike Sudnik, and Matthew Koh. Special guests included Father Chenault’s mother and sister and visitors from Father Chenault’s previous parish, Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Fort Payne. Following Mass, the bishop, clergy, and parishioners enjoyed the parish’s monthly Knights of Columbus Pancake Breakfast.
